Save Electricity with Energy Star Rebates in Virginia

From Oct. 10-13, all purchases in the state of Virginia of products that meet the Energy Star qualifications, such as energy-efficient appliances, will be exempt from sales tax. Eligible products must be priced under $2,500 and they must also be purchased for personal use or noncommercial home use. Energy Star products and savings are a very effective ways to save electricity and energy.

 

What items are some of the items eligible for exemption from sales tax?
All retailers who carry Energy Star labeled products will suspend sales tax on the following Energy Star products that cost under $2,500:

  • Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs (CFLs)**
  • Ceiling Fans
  • Clothes Washers
  • Dehumidifiers
  • Dishwashers
  • Programmable Thermostats
  • Refrigerators
  • Room Air Conditioners

In addition, the current legislation will add WaterSense water saving products to the Virginia sales tax holiday.
