Ways to Save Electricity

North Carolina Energy Star Tax Holiday Is In November

The Energy Star program is a joint program of the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The program covers more than 55 product categories and is voluntary for manufacturers.

Items and appliances that have the Energy Star logo help consumers save electricity. They are proving  to help save households over $75 a year in energy costs and also help save the environment, according to the program's Web site.

North Carolina has an upcoming sales tax holiday for Energy Star appliances that will run from Nov. 7-9. The tax breaks apply to freezers, refrigerators, washers, heat pumps, air conditioners, ceiling fans, dehumidifiers and programmable thermostats among other items.

Be sure to take advantage of this holiday as it is a great way to save electricity. More on the holiday.
