I recently authorized and signed legislation that will encourage Missouri families and businesses families to save electricity, protect our environment, and save money. The legislation creates a Show-Me Green Sales Tax Holiday, which is a week-long event that will be running from April 19 to April 25 next year. During this period, sales tax on the purchase of Energy-Star certified appliances will be eliminated.

There are many benefits to Energy Star certified appliances. They use less electricity and energy than other appliances. They are better for the environment, and most importantly, they are more efficient and are a great way for consumers to save electricity. Energy Star certified products and appliances are making a positive contribution to the environment and also to the daily costs associated with using household appliances for many millions of Americans.

Improving energy efficiency leads to a healthier environment and conserves resources. It can also be an effective way to save money on your energy bills. And very soon, buying an energy efficient Energy Star appliance could help Missourians save even more.
